Job Description

Staten Island, New York, Wagner College, an NCAA Division I member of the Northeast Conference (NEC), is accepting applications for a full-time Media Relations Graduate Assistant position. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operations of the Wagner Athletics Media Relations staff, including the management of rosters, schedules, statistics and website content for Wagner’s 28 athletic programs. The position will also assist with digital media content creation and live broadcast productions. Night and weekend work will be required. This is a two-year position with an expected January 2027 start date. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Serve as the primary media relations contact for assigned Wagner athletic programs, overseeing team information, statistics, records and media requests. Write and publish game previews, recaps, press releases, award announcements and other content for WagnerAthletics.com. Create and manage social media, graphics, photography, video and other digital content promoting Wagner student-athletes, coaches and teams. Provide game-day media relations coverage for assigned sports and assist with football, basketball and other major home events. Serve as a secondary broadcast producer, assisting with live productions, on-screen graphics and broadcast setup. Assist with media days, promotional campaigns, special projects and other duties as assigned by the Athletics Media Relations staff. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, along with acceptance into an applicable Wagner College graduate program. Strong written and verbal communication, organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Knowledge of college athletics, sports terminology and major social media platforms. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Lightroom, as well as SIDEARM, NCAA Live Stats and PrestoStats, is preferred. Photography, videography and video editing experience is also preferred. Experience with live broadcast productions, including production setup and on-screen graphics, is preferred. One or more years of experience in collegiate athletics communications, media relations or a related field is strongly preferred. Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
