Associate Atheltic Director, Development | California State University, Long Beach

Long Beach, California, The Associate Athletics Director, Development will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospect, with a focus on securing major gifts of $25,000+ and principal gifts of $1 million+. In addition, the incumbent provides strategic oversight of annual giving and planned giving initiatives while fostering meaningful relationships with donors, alumni, corporate partners, and community stakeholders. Working collaboratively with the Executive Director of Athletics, University Relations and Development, campus leadership, coaches, and external constituents, this position advances the department's strategic priorities by leading athletics development operations, supervising development personnel, supporting assigned sport programs, ensuring responsible stewardship of philanthropic resources, and promoting a culture of compliance, service, and excellence in support of Long Beach State Athletics and its student-athletes. This position is a strategic and accomplished fundraising leader with a proven ability to secure major and principal gifts, manage a high-value donor portfolio, and build meaningful relationships that advance the mission of Long Beach State Athletics. They are skilled in developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies that generate support through major gifts, annual giving, endowments, capital projects, and planned giving opportunities, while providing exceptional donor cultivation and stewardship. Experienced in utilizing CRM systems and fundraising analytics, they effectively identify prospects, manage pipelines, track performance, and make data-informed decisions to achieve ambitious revenue goals. The successful candidate provides visionary leadership for the Athletics Development program by setting fundraising priorities, managing budgets, leading staff, and fostering a high-performing, donor-centered culture. They work collaboratively with Athletics leadership, University Relations and Development, campus partners, and external stakeholders to align fundraising efforts with institutional goals, strengthen donor engagement, and maximize philanthropic support. As a member of the Executive Director of Athletics' senior leadership team, they contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and resource stewardship while representing Athletics across campus and in the community. In addition, the ideal candidate effectively supervises assigned sports programs, supports coaches and student-athlete success, and ensures compliance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations. They demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, Title IX, Clery Act responsibilities, and ethical leadership while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence throughout the department. Education and Experience Equivalent to a baccalaureate degree and three years of demonstrated successful fundraising experience required. Five years of experience preferred. Capital Campaign experience preferred. The hiring range for this position is $8,742 - $10,928 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
