Graduate Assistant, External Operations | Auburn University at Montgomery

Alabama, The Athletics Department at Auburn University at Montgomery is accepting applications for an External Operations Graduate Assistant. This position requires office hours, nights, and weekends, dependent on home competition and special event schedules. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the mission of Auburn University at Montgomery, the Athletic Department, and the Athletics Administration External Operations Office. You are required to assist and complete all assignments set forth by the Associate AD for External Affairs or their designee(s). The Athletics External Operations GA position is designed to provide individuals with an administrative experience within an NCAA Division II athletics department throughout their tenure, including external affairs tasks, game day management, event planning and execution, and more. Below are lists of essential functions and tasks performed by all external operations Graduate Assistants and athletic department Graduate Assistants: General Responsibilities: Support the Associate AD of External Affairs in the daily operations of concessions, marketing, game operations, ticketing, and/or other duties Assist with the planning and execution of marketing campaigns, game-day promotions, fan engagement initiatives, campus engagement, community outreach, theme nights, giveaways, recognitions, and special events designed to enhance the AUM Athletics brand and game-day experience. Support digital marketing and communications efforts, including email marketing, mobile app communications, social media promotions, website updates, digital advertising, promotional materials, signage, and other initiatives designed to increase attendance, engagement, and revenue. Assist with all aspects of AUM Athletics ticketing operations, including event setup, ticket sales, customer service, box office operations, ticket inventory, ticketing equipment, season-ticket initiatives, group sales, and game-day execution. Support departmental revenue-generating initiatives, including ticket sales, sponsorship activation, concessions, merchandise and licensing, special events, hospitality, and other revenue opportunities. Assist with the operation and management of athletics concessions, including inventory management, purchasing needs, stocking, point-of-sale systems, menus and pricing, sales reporting, expense and revenue tracking, product management, and preparation and maintenance of concession areas. Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising student workers supporting ticketing, concessions, marketing, promotions, and other external operations functions. Collaborate with External Operations and Athletic Communications staff to develop and execute strategies that strengthen the AUM Athletics brand, increase attendance, improve fan engagement, and generate revenue. Assist with sponsor activations, hospitality functions, alumni engagement, donor stewardship, community outreach, and department special events, including Homecoming, Hall of Fame, Hoops Madness, Education Day, and other athletics initiatives. Maintain and organize promotional inventory, signage, concession inventory, ticketing equipment, event materials, and other resources utilized by the External Operations Office. Collect, maintain, and analyze data related to ticket sales, attendance, concessions, revenue, expenses, campaign performance, and fan engagement to assist with departmental evaluation and decision-making. Serve in assigned game-day leadership and operational roles and assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of AUM Athletics home competitions and special events. Perform additional external operations responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the Associate AD for External Affairs or their designee. Compensation: Tuition for up to 18-credit hours per academic year (fall, spring, summer), on-campus housing, and an additional fixed amount to be applied to fees, books, meals, etc. Maximum of 12 in-state graduate credits for Spring 2027 + Summer 2027 for positions beginning in January. GA Verification support for out-of-state graduate students covering the difference of in-state vs. out-of-state tuition and fees. Possibility of student worker wages for gameday hours worked as a student worker beyond 20 hours per week required in GA role. Must be accepted in AUM master’s program and demonstrate full-time enrollment for Spring 2027 not later than Friday, December 12th. Position does require summer hours for courses covered in summer term. Minimum Qualifications: •    Bachelor’s Degree posted prior to start date  •    Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills •    Valid driver’s license •    Continuation in the role for a second year is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining valid CPR/AED, First Aid and NCAA DII Coaches certifications as well as meeting position expectations  •    Must apply and gain admission to an Auburn University at Montgomery graduate-level program and pass background check and MVR to be eligible for position   Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a collegiate athletics as a volunteer, intern, part-time and/or student-worker role.
