Job Description

Duluth, Minnesota, About the Job The assistant coach will provide support to the head coaches in maintaining a highly competitive and successful athletic program developed in a manner compatible with the department and University philosophy, and in compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations. Duties and Responsibilities Aid coaches in all aspects of developing and maintaining a competitive intercollegiate sport program within the NCAA and Conference rules and regulations. Aid coaches in compiling and editing materials appropriate to the sport. Instruct and teach student athletes in the fundamentals of sport technique and strategy. Plan and execute practice and competition plans specific to the sprints and hurdles. Perform administrative responsibilities, including assisting in budget planning and management, scheduling of competitions and planning and executing team travel. Assist in monitoring the academic performance of student athletes to help them achieve full potential. Aid coaches in evaluating and recruiting qualified student athletes to UMD and the organization of recruiting events including on-campus official and unofficial recruiting visits. Assist coaches with operation of youth camps. Including registrations, scheduling and instruction. Provide opportunities for student athletes to develop life and leadership skills. Commit to adhering to all rules and regulations of the Department, the University, our Conference affiliations and the NCAA. Support the UMD athletics mission of excellence in the Classroom, Community and Competition Other duties as assigned Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree A minimum of two years playing experience   Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations One year minimum experience coaching at the high school, collegiate or professional level Commitment to athletic excellence in an academic environment Demonstrated ability to communicate both written and verbally   The University of Minnesota Duluth is seeking a Track & Field and Cross Country Assistant.
