Head Cheer Coach | University of Mary Washington

Fredericksburg, Virginia, UMW Athletics seeks qualified applicants for the part-time position of Head Cheer Coach. The Head Cheer Coach will provide leadership for the cheer program and oversee all aspects of its day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include recruiting and retaining qualified student-athletes; monitoring academic progress and grades; managing program budgets, travel, fundraising, and social media; coordinating game day operations; fostering positive relationships with alumni and supporters; and organizing volunteer and community engagement activities. The coach will also be responsible for planning practices, overall skill development, and game day performance strategies. Candidates should possess strong technical knowledge of cheer coaching and an understanding of competitive cheer rules and regulations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student-athlete success and the values of sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork. Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications Technical knowledge of coaching a cheer team. Knowledge of competitive rules within the sport organization. Required Experience: Experience with club and/or collegiate cheer student-athletes.   Required Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field.   Required Licensure: N/A Additional Considerations: Experience in college recruitment.
