Wilmington, North Carolina, The primary purpose of the Athletic Trainer is to support the university’s comprehensive sports medical program by being responsible for the recognition, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning injuries that occur to UNCW’s varsity athletes. This position will provide training coverage for UNCW Athletics, with primary support for the women’s basketball team, by applying professional judgment and discretion to each medical case, advising coaches on return to competition for student-athletes, and demonstrating discretion and sound judgment in working with confidential information and the well-being of the student-athletes.
This is a full-time 12-month position, with benefits.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act) and is considered a mandatory reporter under University policy. This position will be required to complete annual training about reporting responsibilities and report Clery crimes that occur within one of three categories of properties: On-Campus property, Non-Campus Property, or Public Property. Master’s degree in applicable field from a regionally accredited institution
At least two (2) years of responsible experience in collegiate athletics, preferably with experience supporting a Division I Women’s Basketball program or a comparable intercollegiate athletics environment.
